This is usually the first reaction from team members (albeit in their minds) when leaders initiated a coaching conversation. They may start to get defensive. As Leaders, we have to reassure them.

The sad fact is that many people had only met their boss only when they are in trouble. They never had a Leadership Coach, only a boss that reprimands them and catches them doing "wrong" things.

Let your team see that you are different. Commit to coaching them consistently to grow them. Its not about "What's wrong with you." It's about "What's right about you."
